Sample Private Tour I: Capetown
Perhaps you have told us that you want an exclusive experience that is unlike any other visit to Cape Town. We like to be challenged, and this is what we might suggest :
- This is a longer day, so your Mundy Carte Blanche Guide arranges to meet you at the gangplank at about 8.00. You’ll be whisked away from the pier in air-conditioned luxury by a classic car (a Rolls Royce, Cadillac or a Jaguar) to visit a little-known spot which offers breathtaking views over the ocean and the Twelve Apostle Mountains.
- Then a trip down the magnificent coastal road to Hout Bay, a charming fishing village where you might want to enjoy a coffee with the view. Then something special as we travel along what is one of the most scenically spectacular drives in the world - Chapman’s Peak Drive - with numerous look out points over the ocean, and surrounded by extraordinarily coloured granite and manganese rock formations.
- Eventually you will get to Muizenberg; in the 18th century a military base, and at the beginning of the 20th century a prestigious resort, with grand mansions along its sparkling sea-front.
- Here you are due to visit the studios of the acclaimed South African painter Rachelle Bomberg. Rachelle herself will show you the studios and talk about her work: or maybe you just want to enjoy a cup of tea and talk about the artistic inspirations and rhythms of Africa.
- It’s time for lunch, and we have chosen the award-winning restaurant at the “Buitenverwachting Wine Estate”, a small and exclusive winery in the beautiful Constantia Valley, the birthplace of South Africa’s wine industry.
- A walk is called for, and so you can now stroll around the celebrated Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a treasure trove of South African flora. It’s an easy walk and a delightful one, set against the dramatic backdrop of Table Mountain.
- And now, with the trills of the Kirstenbosch birds still ringing in your ears, it’s time to return to Cape Town and your ship, after a truly unique and unforgettable day.
